Cotton prices rose to their highest levels ever in August 2010 with prices in the U.S at around $1-$1.30 dollars
The article states long-term cotton futures now hover around $1, but Pima cotton prices are closer to $1.30.
That’s one reason big growth is expected this year in California. Nearly all the cotton planted there is the high-quality, extra-long fibre used in luxury sheets and towels.
